Permanent Exhibitions
The Workshops Rail Museum's permanent exhibitions take visitors on a
lively and colourful journey of discovery into the Queensland rail story.
Explore the historic Timekeepers Building,
Grounds, Powerhouse and War Memorial, before seeing
a locomotive whose job was Moving Goods around the State in the 1950s. The change from steam to diesel is
explored in Diesel Revolution before it's All Aboard to see the oldest steam
locomotive still operating in Australia, the A10 No6.

Behind the Scenes Tours
See the engine room of QR's Heritage Rollingstock Maintenance. Here you'll see real QR workers busily maintaining and restoring the gems of the QR heritage train fleet. Behind the Scenes Tours leave regularly throughout the day.

Ipswich Railway Workshops
The Ipswich Railway Workshops was an essential part of Queensland Railways. Here, generations of blacksmiths, carpenters, painters, metalworkers and other craftsmen built and repaired locomotives, wagons, carriages and railmotors.
