On the evening of 31 August 1938 a daring robbery took place on board a mixed goods train travelling from Cloncurry to Duchess. It is believed that two men on horseback stole two mail bags full of miners' wages.

It's your job to investigate the list of suspects and find out who helped the train robbers! Follow the clues, examine the evidence and decide for yourself who committed this daring crime.

All activities are included in the general Museum entry price, unless otherwise stated.

Regular times throughout the day
A 'whodunit' adventure for the whole family. Become a Deputy Detective and work with The Workshops Police Inspector to investigate the mystery of the missing miners' wages. This case was never solved - are you up to the challenge?

The Police Station
10:00am to 4:00pm daily
Collect your clue sheet and 'interview' the suspects to gather the evidence against the culprits. Create an identikit reward poster for the train robbers and display it on our Wanted Wall. Have your fingerprints taken by the Police Officer on duty.

Old Workshops Town and Stick 'Em Up Dress Ups
9:30am to 5:00pm daily
Dress up as cops and robbers and act out your own train robbery in a kids-sized town, complete with its own police station and jail.

Cops and Robbers Creation Station

Get creative and make your own Deputy Detective's badge, a robber's mask and guard's hat.

The Hide Out

Enter the robbers' secret hide out and test your powers of deduction and perception playing your favourite mystery board games.
