Departing Roma Street Station, this exciting journey of discovery is much more than just a steam train ride, as the excursion also includes entry to The Workshops Rail Museum, and the Wizards and Witches Express event! Visitors then return to Roma Street Station via coach (bus). Bookings are essential. | Special Event Teachers Professional Development Afternoon The Workshops Rail Museum is offering a workshop for teachers exploring the learning opportunities provided by the Museum. The workshop includes a tour of the Museum and hands on experiences with real Museum objects. The workshop is FREE for educators and includes afternoon tea. Bookings are essential.

| Special Event Anniversary Steam Train This special trip will celebrate the anniversary of the first train journey taken in Queensland, which occurred on 31 July 1865. The trip will depart from The Workshops Rail Museum, retracing the same journey as that taken in 1865, and includes a roast lunch and dessert. Bookings are essential. | Special Event 2008 Annual Workers Reunion and Ipswich Residents Open Day Celebrate the 6th Annual Workers Reunion at The Workshops Rail Museum! The event salutes the enormous contribution made by QR workers to the development of the State and provides a fabulous opportunity for past and present QR workers to reminisce and share stories of their time in the railways. Entry is FREE for past and present QR workers and, thanks to Ipswich City Council, FREE for Ipswich residents (proof of residency required), otherwise general Museum entry applies. | 3 Aug 08

| Special Event Circus Train Roll up for all the BIG LOUD FUN of the circus when The Workshops Rail Museum brings the Circus Train event to life. Event activities include Circus Performers, Circus Train Creation Station, Circus Train The Display, Circus Camp and Action Alley.

| Special Event Teacher Free Months During October & November 2008, Queensland school teachers are admitted FREE into The Workshops Rail Museum, seven days a week. Take the opportunity to experience the educational offering of the multi-award winning Museum and plan your next school excursion. Don’t forget that Queensland schools groups are admitted FREE during school hours. Teachers are required to show proof of their teacher registration.
