These resources are provided for teachers and students to assist in exploring the museum. Materials may also be used to assist in the delivery of classroom lessons.

I Spy Trail

Students can explore the museums exhibits using the I Spy activities to learn more about the museum's objects.

Programs

Rail Transportation: Past and Present

This is a 10 week program of work. The program will allow students to value the railway system’s contribution to Queensland and Australia. Students will begin to appreciate similarities and differences of rail travel between generations.

Working in the Past

This is a 10 week program of work. The program explores the social history of the men and women of Queensland Rail. By reflecting on oral history accounts students will develop a picture of both the toil and kinship of the railway working environment.

Workshops

Simple Machines

This workshop is a hands-on approach to learning about simple machines. It can be tailored to suit children aged 7-13 years. The workshop will give students an opportunity to explore simple machines using specialised LEGO kits and will look at how simple machines can be used at home, school and in the railway.

Wood Workshop

The Wood Workshops will allow students to exercise their physical and creative skills. Using vices, hammers, nails, bolts and screws students will create their own wooden toy train. Sessions are suitable for children aged 5-12 years. Sessions are supported by a package of pre and post visit activities.
