Soak up the science of beer, wine and chocolate! Hear from experts, see bubbling demonstrations, enjoy live tunes and get the tastebuds tingling.

Set amongst the steam and steel of the Ipswich Railway Workshops, explore the science behind the flavours in the original Boilershop, and get up close to locomotives and vintage carriages.

Who you’ll see:

  • Matt Kirkegaard shares the amazing science, the ingredients and the often ignored story behind great beer.

  • Ursula Kennedy, wine scientist from the University of Southern Queensland, will present some of the intriguing, weird and wonderful facts and myths from the world of wine.

  • Jason O’Connor of Seatonfire Chilli Chocolate, matches beer and chocolate for a taste sensation you never imagined.

  • Dr Joel Gilmore discusses and demonstrates the methods of some key kitchen science and creates some novel dishes.

  • Professor Lindsay Brown talks purple super foods and how they can reverse health issues, as seen on Landline and Catalyst.

  • Street Science Steve brings the ‘wow’ with is his demonstrations and makes you wish you had him as your high school science teacher.

  • The Nitrobev crew will discuss the science of their Nitro Coffee creations. Think Single Origin Cold Brewing combined with Nitro Craft Beer (without the alcohol).

  • Bugsy Bros will discuss Entomophagy – the human consumption of insects as food. It’s common practice in many parts of the world.

  • Enjoy the live sounds of Linda Capewell.
