Brisbane’s moving heritage experience Steam Train Sunday returns

28 February 2017

All aboard! Passengers can travel in vintage style with the return of the monthly The Workshops Rail Museum’s Steam Train Sunday on 5 March 2017.

Director of Collections, Research and Lifelong Learning for Queensland Museum Network Alex Hayward encouraged South East Queensland residents to enjoy the hour-long journey through Brisbane.

“Our incredibly popular Steam Train Sunday series appeals to people of all ages.

“Steam trains are history that moves, allowing passengers to experience the sights, sounds and smells of heritage transport.

“Last year more than 6,000 passengers came aboard to experience this rare old world joy while travelling through a modern city.”

Passengers are free to move between carriages, take in the sights from the train’s balconies, wave to onlookers and relax to the gentle sway of the steam train.

Departing from Roma Street station for a one-hour loop of the city, the steam train trips are enjoyed by adults and children alike.
